What or Who is the Good Sam Club?
On one of our trips south we took a side trip and went to an RV retailer called Camping World, an awesome store that I will do a review about another day.
On this particular occasion, when we were in the store paying for our goods, the cashier asked if we would like a membership with the Good Sam Club. After explaining some of the benefits in the package we decided to join.
Good Sam Club was Founded in 1966 by a small California RV magazine called Trail-R-News and is based in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The Club is a sister company to Camping world and boasts a membership of over 1.65 million.
Members can save anywhere from 10% on campsite fees at over 2100 Good Sam parks and Campgrounds and up to 30% at Camping World stores. Members can also save $.03/Gallon when fueling up at participating stations.
Other benefits include roadside service, trip planning, various types of insurance, credit card program and their own travel and campground guide as well as services for Snowbirds who want to get away from the cold of Canada, (from California to Florida, they have it covered).
They have a consumer advocacy line, up to date, recall information and they even have a group of volunteers who can give members help when they’re on the road.
My wife and I have been Club members for a number of years and although we haven’t had an occasion to use there “Roadside Service”, as with any company out there you will find good and bad reviews. I did find some bad ones but I also found MORE good ones, and I really like the idea of getting up to 30% off on RV gear at Camping World.
If you decide to join the Good Sam Club you have a choice of a 1 yr. membership for $27.00 USD or a 2 yr. membership for $50.00 USD. If you decide on the 2 or 3 yr.membership you will also receive a $25.00 Camping World Merchandise Certificate. This Certificate will be delivered along with your membership kit and will take 2-3 weeks to arrive.
Well, this is my review of the Good Sam Club. I hope you have found it helpful and as always, if you have any questions or comments please leave them in the box below and I will return an answer.
Until then, DRIVE SAFE AND HAPPY CAMPING.
